At CBC we hold firm to the Bible because we believe that it is the word of God. As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, we agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. To review this document and get a better understanding of what we believe, click here.
Salvation
We believe that all people have sinned and that the wages of sin is death. But by the grace of God, we don't have to die or be under the power of sin. God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross in our place (defeating sin) and He rose from the dead (defeating death). If a person repents (turns from their old life in sin), believes that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died and rose again, and confesses that He is the Lord of their life, then they too share in Jesus' victory over sin and death!
Baptism
We believe that every believer is commanded by Jesus to publicly take part in baptism. However, it is only a symbol. We like to say that "Baptism is an outward expression of an inward act." It shows what Jesus has already done within the hearts of those who have repented, believed, and confessed that Jesus is Lord and Savior of their life.
Church Membership
We believe that everyone who places their faith in Jesus is a part of the "universal" church. This means that they are a part of the same church around the world, no matter where they attend. But we also believe that it is important to be connected with a local church family for support and accountability to help us grow in our walk with Christ and to serve with others as we are called to do. To become a member at CBC, the only biblical requirement is that a person be a believer and be scripturally baptized. There's a reason this one is last in our brief list, because we believe this is the order that we see them in the Bible.
